This position is integral to supporting both internal and external communications for CAYWA, ensuring the effective realization of its objectives. As the primary intergovernmental organization within the Commonwealth, the Commonwealth Secretariat executes the decisions made by its 56 member governments. Working in collaboration with member governments, the Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP) focuses on policy and program development to empower young people. CAYWA, comprising 21 member organizations worldwide, is a registered not-for-profit entity dedicated to enhancing the standards of Youth Work. It achieves this by fostering connections, fortifying, and advocating for the professionalization of Youth Workers across the Commonwealth.

Key Responsibilities

The CAYWA Coordinator will be responsible for:

  1. Supporting internal and external communications for CAYWA.
  2. Providing secretariat and management support to the network on behalf of the Executive Committee.
  3. Overseeing day-to-day functions to ensure the achievement of objectives.

Task Description

The CAYWA Coordinator will:

  1. Research and identify opportunities for CAYWA’s thought leadership.
  2. Attend strategic meetings and provide monthly report-outs.
  3. Actively participate in the improvement and collaborative change management of CAYWA.
  4. Coordinate with the Commonwealth Secretariat for external partnerships.
  5. Maintain the association management database.
  6. Assist in the preparation of reports, grant proposals, and other documents.
  7. Support grant writers to ensure the quality of external-facing publications.
  8. Manage and promote Youth Work Labs as a recurring activity.
  9. Facilitate the effective delivery of training programs and webinars.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of a Commonwealth member country.
  • Hold a strong bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public administration, public policy, international development, or social science.
  • Have relevant professional training (highly desirable).
  • Demonstrate strong writing and reporting skills, excellent communication, and project management skills.
  • Be proficient in developing strategic plans, trainings, and workshops.
  • Have at least 3 years of demonstrated experience in project management, youth work, or education.
