Fully Funded Obama Leaders Program in 2024

Are you a rising leader looking to increase your impact on your community this year? If so, an incredible opportunity awaits you as applications for the Obama Leaders program open on January 16.

This six-month leadership development trip, which spans four areas – Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the United States – is intended to nurture, empower, and connect rising leaders who are committed to promoting positive and long-term change.

Empowering Change Globally

The Obama Foundation’s Leaders program aspires to inspire, empower, and connect regional cohorts of changemakers to accelerate positive change within their communities and throughout their regions.

Open to emerging leaders worldwide, typically aged 24-45, this program encourages the creation of societies and communities rooted in shared values, where everyone belongs, participates, and thrives.

The Leaders program launched in Africa in 2018, expanded to Asia Pacific in 2019, and inaugurated Europe in 2020. During the Obama Foundation Democracy Forum in New York City, we announced our newest program in the United States.

Diverse Leadership for Social Impact

Leaders hail from diverse nations and territories, representing public, private, and nonprofit sectors, addressing a broad spectrum of social impact issues. The program offers practical skill-building for social change, leadership coaching, discussions on critical issues, and small group support. Participants self-define a values-based foundation for sustained leadership, cultivate relationships to catalyze inclusive change, and prepare to engage with issues at the systems level.

Global Perspectives and Alumni Network

Upon program completion, Leaders gain a deeper understanding of how values-based leadership propels their ability to enact change. Inspired to take further action, armed with new ideas and skills, Leaders become part of the Obama Leadership Network—a growing global alumni community of nearly 900 active changemakers.
